Your gown has a life beyond your big day and Kite’s Wedding Gown Specialists can ensure that it remains perfect for generations to come. As Fort Worth’s only member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists, we follow the Smithsonian Museum’s guidelines for fabric care and preservation. Whether your gown is just starting its’ life as an heirloom piece or it has been passed down for generations, our preservation services will protect your gown.
Your gown will be hand cleaned and finished, addressing any specific stains and treated with our anti-sugar stain treatment. Clear stains, such as champagne, can yellow or brown over time and require special attention to properly remove. We then package your gown and place it in an acid-free archival quality chest. The chest is not sealed as fabric needs to breathe, and we provide you with white cotton gloves for when you would like to handle the gown. It is presented in a muslin cover for storage, with the option of a personalized monogram to commemorate your special day.
During your consultation, our Wedding Gown Specialist will go over every inch of your gown with you to address any stains, problem areas, or repairs that may need to be made. She will discuss the entire process with you and give you the most accurate quote for your gown.
Spills containing sugar, salt, and acid often dry clear and cannot be seen with the naked eye. These latent stains do not dissolve in ordinary dry cleaning and can caramelize over time resulting in unsightly stains that are very difficult to remove. Our unique anti-sugar stain treatment, featured in Modern Bride and Bride’s magazines, ensures that all sugar, salt and acid stains – seen or unseen – are removed.
We hand treat and clean your gown, never in combination with any other gowns. We take every precaution to protect delicate beads, embroidery, and lace.
All of our wedding gown services are ZeroCarbon because we offset all carbon emissions with donations to Carbonfund.org who support restoration projects.
Our affiliation with the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists offers the unique feature that when a gown preserved by Kite’s is to be worn again, it can be brought into any member of the Association world-wide and the gown will be inspected, pressed, and prepared to wear for free.
